Sugar Mania

Every week, I sit down and brainstorm a list of features which could be interesting a) for me to write about and b) for you to read about on Twelve52. Earlier this week, I thought it would be amazing to take a look at the different kinds of sweets available all over the world. To be honest, I was mostly inspired by the salted licorice cats which my great aunty always used to tote around in her handbag and car’s glove compartment.

When I started researching the world’s sweets though, I kept coming across some bizarre varieites all from one place – Japan. I’m complately fascinated by them all, so I’m dedicating an entire feature to them. Enjoy.

Bust Up Gum

Not only does Bust Up Gum supposedly give you bigger boobs, it also improves circulation, relieves PMS, relieves menopause symptoms, ‘increases vaginal secretion’, reduces stress, makes you look younger and improves the health of your skin and hair. It might even walk your dog if you ask it nicely.

Suplitol Tongkat Ali Gum

Just in case men feel left out, the makers of Bust Up Gum bring the fellas Suplitol Tongkat Ali Gum. If Bust Up is for bigger boobs, can you guess what this men-only gum enlarges? Time to buy some bigger boxers, lads!

Ghengis Khan Caramel

Looks like a sweet caramel, but it’s flavoured with grilled lamb. And why not?

Squid Candy

Technically, this doesn’t contain squid but it is made with fish paste which is then given a squid flavouring over the top. Apparently it’s quite juicey. Sounds freakin’ delicious *heavy sarcasm*.

Yaki Toukibi Sweet Corn and Soy Sauce Drops

Why eat your vegetables like a normal person when you can suck them in sweet form? These drops taste like soy sauce and sweetcorn. I wonder if they count towards my 5-a-day?
